Admissions

Admissions Requirements 

  1. Official transcripts from a Bachelor’s degree in related area to the program, from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.00
  2. The following courses are required: 
    • Two semesters of Biology (6 credits) 
    • One semester of Microbiology and laboratory (4 credits) 
    • One semester of Genetics (3 credits) 
    • General Chemistry and laboratory (4 credits) 
    • Organic Chemistry and laboratory (4 credits) 
    • One semester of Biochemistry (3 credits) 
    • One semester of Physics (3 credits) 
    • One semester of any of the following: Pre-calculus, Calculus, Statistics (3 credits) 
    • Two semesters of English (6 credits) 
    • One semester of Humanities or Social Sciences (3 credits) 
    • One semester of Animal Nutrition (3 credits)  - Recommended 
  3. CasPer Test scores 
  4. If English is not your first language; proof of English competency will be required such as TOEFL or IELTS scores. 
  5. A minimum of 300 hours of veterinary professional experience such as hands-on experience and/or related research experience 
  6. Three letters of recommendation - One must be written by a veterinarian
  7. A $100.00 nonrefundable application fee

Application Process and Timeline

Students interested in applying for the UAGM SVM DVM must complete the application process and document submission through the Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS). The UAGM SVM will consider admission of 80 students to the Doctor in Veterinary Medicine every year in the fall semester. Students who wish to be admitted to the Doctor in Veterinary Medicine should go through the VMCAS application window (January- September).

Financial Aid
    

Since UAGM is a Title IV Program participant, the SVM DVM eligible students will have access to federal financial aid. The Student Financing Advisor under the Associate Deanship of Student Affairs in collaboration with the Financial Aid Office, are the units responsible to provide orientation, support, and financial services to the SVM DVM students.
