Vision
To be the first academic choice for students wanting to become Speech Language Pathologists who can provide communication and swallowing services to a variety of populations across the lifespan, by providing a flexible academically strong program emphasizing the integration of clinical application and evidence-based knowledge.
Mission
The speech-language pathology program’ mission at Universidad Ana G. Mendez (UAGM) is to prepare well trained professionals in the Speech-Language Pathology field who can deliver excellent person-centered care to a variety of pediatric and adult populations with communication and swallowing disorders.
Our program is committed to fostering research, academic and clinical skills with the highest ethical and professional evidence-based practice standards in our students. Our program also aims to graduate well-rounded, competent speech-language pathologists ready to provide professional services to all populations in need.
Master's Degree of Sciences in Speech-Language Pathology
MSLP program overview
The Masters in Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program at Universidad Ana G. Méndez Gurabo Campus, follows the highest standards of quality and professional ethics for the professional preparation of future SLP’s. The curriculum offers courses that prepare the student for prevention, evaluation, differential diagnosis and treatment activities. The curriculum prepares the student to offer services to infants, children, adolescents and adults with communication, feeding, and swallowing disorders.
The Speech-Language Pathology program is a rigorous, full-time program of study. Students with or without an undergraduate background in communication sciences and disorders can expect to complete the requirements in 2 or 3 years, depending your chosen cohort (evening or daytime). Students who complete the degree program are also eligible to apply for the Puerto Rico licensing process and Puerto Rico board exam for speech and language pathology.

Clinic Services Overview
In support of the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs in Speech-Language Pathology, UAGM, Gurabo Campus, is proud to offer specialized services in the assessment and diagnosis of communication disorders and delays, as well as offering intervention services. These services strengthen all academic programs, positioning the clinic as a welcoming center for students, research, academic work, and community service.
Services offered include:
- Screenings and evaluations for children and adults in speech (apraxia, dysarthria, articulation, phonology, oral motor, etc.), language (oral and written, for all ages), voice, fluency, feeding, dysphagia, and hearing.
- Intervention and treatment for children and adults in speech, language, voice, fluency, feeding, and dysphagia.
- Individual and group intervention for adults with Parkinson's disease through the SPEAK OUT! © Program.
- Treatment focused on cognitive skills in adult patients with neurological conditions.
- Counseling for families and the community at large on speech and language-related conditions.
